Watch · 30 seconds
Most of the owners we work with had a great reputation and an unpredictable phone. In 30 seconds, Cole explains how we turn Google Ads into a lead engine that doesn’t depend on who happened to tell a neighbor about you.
Built for your trade
Every trade has its own lead types, seasons and searches. Here’s where we’d start for yours.

No heat or no cooling. Phone-first, urgent, and decided in minutes.
The highest-value lead. Homeowners compare quotes, financing and brands over days or weeks.
Lower ticket, but it fills slow months and builds the customer list for future replacements.
Timing: Demand follows the weather: heating calls spike with the first cold snap and cooling calls with the first heat wave. Searches like “furnace repair near me”, “heat pump installation”, “ac not cooling”.

Burst pipes, backed-up sewers, no hot water. The caller wants someone today.
Water heaters, fixtures, repiping. Customers compare a couple of quotes.
A large share of plumbing searches, often a gateway to bigger sewer-line jobs.
Timing: Plumbing demand is steadier than most trades, but cold snaps bring frozen and burst pipes, holidays bring clogged drains, and heavy rain brings sewer and sump issues. Searches like “emergency plumber near me”, “water heater replacement”, “drain cleaning service”.

High value and a long decision. Homeowners collect several quotes and check reviews carefully.
Urgent, lower ticket, and a common way to earn the replacement job later.
Moss removal, gutter work and inspections — useful for filling the schedule and building trust.
Timing: Roofing follows the weather. Searches like “roof replacement near me”, “roof leak repair”, “roofing contractor”.

Outages, tripping breakers, sparking outlets. Urgent and safety-driven.
Panel upgrades, EV chargers and service changes — higher value and often tied to a bigger project.
Lighting, circuits and remodel wiring, often booked with a little planning.
Timing: Electrical demand is fairly steady through the year. Searches like “electrician near me”, “panel upgrade cost”, “ev charger installation”.

Patios, full yard redesigns and hardscaping. High value, longer decision.
Sod, mulch, planting and cleanups. Quick decisions, good volume.
Recurring lawn and landscape care. Smaller tickets that add up over a season.
Timing: Landscaping is strongly seasonal. Searches like “landscaping company near me”, “paver patio installation”, “sod installation”.

A couch, a fridge, a mattress. Fast decisions and often same-day.
Estates, garages and move-outs. Larger jobs with more comparison shopping.
Contractors, property managers and businesses — repeat potential.
Timing: Junk removal peaks with spring cleaning and the summer moving season, slows in deep winter, and has steady estate and property-management demand year-round.. Searches like “junk removal near me”, “furniture removal”, “same day junk removal”.

The most valuable customer: weekly or bi-weekly service for months or years.
Deep cleans and move-outs. Lower lifetime value, but a common way to start a recurring relationship.
Offices and facilities. Longer sales process, larger contracts.
Timing: Spring cleaning season and the summer moving season bring spikes in deep-clean and move-out searches. Searches like “house cleaning service near me”, “move out cleaning”, “deep cleaning service”.

Large, weather-dependent projects with the highest ticket values.
Year-round work, from single rooms to whole homes.
A specialized, high-margin service that attracts its own searches.
Timing: Exterior painting runs with the dry season and is planned weeks or months ahead. Searches like “house painters near me”, “exterior painting contractor”, “cabinet painting”.

The most-searched remodel projects. High value, several quotes.
Large projects with long timelines and design phases.
Repairs and small upgrades — useful for filling gaps, but often not the target.
Timing: Remodel planning picks up after the new year and in early spring. Searches like “kitchen remodel contractor”, “bathroom remodeling near me”, “home addition contractor”.
Where ad budgets usually leak
When a local business tells us “Google Ads doesn’t work for us,” it usually comes down to one of three things.
Broad keywords with no negative list mean your budget goes to job seekers, DIY questions and services you don’t offer.
If button clicks or page views are recorded as “leads,” Google optimizes toward them — and the reports look better than your phone does.
A visitor who searched for one specific service shouldn’t have to hunt for it. A focused landing page with a clear next step converts more of the same traffic.
Lead calculator
Move the sliders to match your business. It’s a rough estimate — not a quote or a guarantee — but it shows quickly whether the math works before you spend a dollar.
Cost per lead varies by trade and market. Our junk removal case study ran $28.85 per lead in its first 8 days; published benchmarks put the 2025 all-industry average around $70.

How we work
We review your current ads, website, tracking and market, then recommend where to start — including when paid ads aren’t the right move yet.
Calls, form submissions and other real inquiries are tracked before we spend money, so results are measured on leads, not clicks.
Tight keyword groups, written-for-you ad copy and landing pages built for the service and area you want more work in.
Search terms, budgets and lead quality are reviewed regularly. You get plain-English reporting on what changed and why.

Who you work with
Altura is a founder-led agency. Cole Mello started it after studying marketing at Washington State University and spending more than five years in marketing. Today he manages more than $100,000 a month in ad spend across client accounts, including single accounts spending up to around $30,000 a month.
That means the person who builds your campaigns is the same person who answers your questions. No hand-offs to a junior account manager, and no reporting you can’t understand.
Mostly local service businesses — HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical, landscaping, junk removal, cleaning, painting and general contractors — plus other small businesses that depend on calls, estimates or appointments.
No. Altura is based in Washington State and works with clients across the U.S., including Arizona, Florida and California. Everything is managed remotely, so location doesn’t limit what we can do.
No — and be cautious of anyone who does. Lead volume depends on your market, budget, offer, reviews and how quickly leads are answered. What we can commit to is a sound setup, accurate tracking and clear reporting, so you always know what your ad spend is producing.
Search and Local Services campaigns can start producing calls within the first few weeks after launch. The first month or two is also when we learn the most about which searches and areas bring in the best jobs, so expect steady improvement after that rather than a perfect first week.
Not always. If your current site loads fast and makes it easy to call or request a quote, we can use it. If it doesn’t, we usually recommend a dedicated landing page for your ads first, which is quicker and cheaper than a full rebuild.
